ABOUT THE COFFEE

The Gaturiri factory is part of the Barichu Cooperative Society and is located in the Nyeri area in the
southern section of Kenya. Gaturiri serves roughly 1,100 small-scale cherry growers and produces about
600 tonnes of cherry each year. During the processing, fresh river water from the Kirigu river is
used.

The Kikuyu term gaturiri means "the shrubs." The location is known for being a site where people
go to pick herbs for use in human and cattle treatment.

The Mathira East Sub-County in Nyeri is home to
the Barichu Farmers Cooperative Society. Karatina, Karindundu, Gaturiri, and Gatomboya are the four
factories that make up the structure. The Cooperative Development and Coffee Board of Kenya registered it
in October 1996. It has 5,800 members and annually generates 3 million to 5 million kilos of
coffee.

Barichu seeks to provide credit to its members for school fees, agriculture inputs, and unexpected
expenses. Its objective is to provide farmers with knowledge on crop husbandry and other coffee-related
agricultural practises. It has a Tropical Farm Management-funded demonstration plot and a nursery that
serves the entire community, giving mature seedlings to help farmers avoid productivity or income losses.

WE ROAST ON ROEST

We embark on the adventure "Specialty coffee roasting" with Roest. The idea was born while we were looking for competition coffee for the Bulgarian Aeropress Championship and we decided to roast it ourselves. As always, for us the goal is only one: uncompromising quality.

Every coffee we offer must be rated above 88 points and impress us at the cupping table.

Hristo is our head roaster and looks for the perfect recipe for each coffee.
