Pepe Jijon must be one of the coolest producers in coffee. Dario and Pepe started talking last year while in the hunt for exceptional competition coffees. Since then, Fanie has finished 3rd at SA National Barista Champs with one of Pepe’s coffees and Dawn Chan from Hong Kong won 5th place at World Barista Champs in Athens last month with this exact coffee!
Pepe is an adventurer. He was the first Latin American to solo climb the 7 summits. What a beast! Today, together with his family, he farms Gesha, Sidra and Typica Mejorado on Finca Soledad, a 120 hectare cloud forest with just 4 hectares dedicated to coffee. We have been fortunate to spend some time with Pepe and he is full on, passionate about coffee and has a strong desire to give back to nature through his approach to farming.
They are rare, exclusive and the price is indicative of the quality and effort that has gone into producing them.
