Timor-Leste, one of the world’s youngest countries, experienced centuries of Portuguese colonisation followed by a long and difficult struggle for independence from Indonesia, finally achieved in 2002. Although coffee was initially introduced by Portuguese settlers, the industry suffered severe neglect during these turbulent years. Today, coffee cultivation is central to the nation’s economic revival. In communities such as Rotutu, local farmers have joined forces to establish shared processing facilities, significantly enhancing coffee quality and opening access to global markets. These collaborative efforts play a crucial role in creating sustainable livelihoods and helping farmers build a stable future for their communities.

We are beyond excited to welcome Colonna Coffee to our shelves this month! Based in the historic city of Bath, UK, Colonna is anything but traditional when it comes to coffee. Founded by Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood - a three-time UK Barista Champion and a true visionary in the specialty coffee world - this roastery is known for pushing boundaries and delivering flawless flavour.

From groundbreaking work on coffee capsules and water chemistry, to their meticulous sourcing and roasting, Colonna approaches coffee with precision, passion, and purpose. Every release is treated like a curated experience, with a focus on clarity, varietal expression, and innovation.

We have chosen Colonna not just for their incredible coffees (though yes, they’re stunning!), but because of how they challenge the status quo - making high-end coffee both accessible and exciting.
