ABOUT THE COFFEE

Gigesa was established in 2014 by Faysel Adham Yonis, a coffee producer who understands the value of careful processing in preserving the unique flavors of Ethiopian coffees. Gigesa is located in the Danbi Uddo Kebele in the Shakisso district of the Guji Zone.

Guji is a forested area in southern Ethiopia. Before the early 2000s, this region was considered part of Sidama, but has since been designated its own region. The people of Guji grow coffee gardens at very high altitudes in the rich red soil of the highlands, setting this coffees profile apart from neighboring regions.

Over 850 members, owning farms between 2-5 hectares in size at elevations between 1800 and 1950 meters above sea level, contribute cherries to the Gigesa washing station. There are two lagoons and areas planted with vetiver grass to treat wastewater from washed coffees.

ABOUT The Barn

The Barn is Europe's leading coffee roastery located in Berlin, which has been a top-level Specialty Coffee Movement pioneer since 2010. The coffee they source and roast is served in many coffee shops and homes in at least 28 countries around the world.
The Barn's vision has been clear from the start - they focus on making their coffees from 'better' to 'best' - no compromises, just great coffee. They don't blend the varieties so they can bring out the specific flavor profiles that make each coffee farm taste different. This makes the farmers they work with proud and their product fully traceable.

OUR COFFEE SELECTION

With Drekka , we embark on the adventure of roasting specialty coffee with a lot of enthusiasm and desire. As always, we will be uncompromising with selection and quality.

Taf Coffee , Athens, is the roastery we have been working with for over seven years. They are always present in our selection.

Every month we present one or more guest roasteries , because we believe that one should constantly try new coffees and roasting profiles from the best bakeries in Europe.
