FOR THE COFFEE

This is the second coffee from Olman Valladarez that Cloud Picker has chosen in recent years.

The coffee is Olman's own varietal blend, created on the farm, showcasing a more classic side of a producer known for his experiments and an impressive five Cup of Excellence victories. What stands out most prominently is the purity of its flavour. Over the years, the quality of this blend has continued to evolve, reaching a level where Cloud Picker decided to present it independently as a single-origin coffee.

When he took over the family farm, Olman decided to control not only the cultivation but also the processing of the coffee, building his own wet and dry processing stations on-site. In 2002, quality issues led the farm into serious financial difficulties, prompting him to completely rethink his approach – from cultivation practices to every stage of processing.

More than twenty years later, the result is not just competition-winning lots. The consistent focus on quality is now evident throughout Olman's entire production – and this coffee is a great example: clean, balanced, and classically Nicaraguan.

ABOUT Cloud Picker

Cloud Picker was founded in 2013 by Frank Kavanagh and Peter Sthal in Dublin. After working in graphic design and corporate banking, the founders took a step towards a new venture and opened their own coffee roastery. The name "Cloud Picker" comes from their trip to Northern Thailand, where they visited a coffee farm in the Doi Chang area on the border between Thailand and Burma and where they climbed through the clouds to see the coffee pickers! At the time, Thailand was not known for its specialty coffee, so it is interesting to see how far it has come since then.
