This coffee offers a balanced cup with chocolatey sweetness and a crisp, clean acidity. The Catuai variety is relatively uncommon in Nicaragua, but it has thrived at Escondida. Having previously enjoyed their Perla Negra–processed Red Catuai, 3fe were quick to welcome this washed version into the line-up, showcasing the variety in a fresher, more transparent expression.

3fe is one of the pioneers of specialty coffee in Ireland and a defining force in Dublin’s modern coffee culture. Founded in 2009 by Colin Harmon, 3fe (short for Third Floor Espresso) started as a small espresso bar and quickly grew into a respected roastery known for precision, transparency, and a deep respect for the craft.

At the heart of 3fe is a relentless focus on quality and clarity. They work closely with trusted import partners and producers, sourcing coffees that are expressive, traceable, and true to origin. Their roasting style is clean and balanced, designed to highlight sweetness, structure, and origin character rather than roast-driven flavours. Every coffee is developed to perform consistently across brew methods, whether at home or behind the bar.

Beyond roasting, 3fe is also known for its role in coffee education and hospitality. Their cafés in Dublin set a benchmark for service, training, and attention to detail, and the team has played a key role in shaping Ireland’s specialty coffee scene over the past decade. Thoughtful, uncompromising, and quietly influential, 3fe is a roastery we admire for doing things properly and for letting the coffee speak for itself.
