Tamiru Tadesse has seen his remarkable work recognized at the Cup of Excellence in Ethiopia, a prestigious award that illustrates his dedication to the art of producing exceptional coffees. This distinction has reinforced his goal: to highlight the unique heritage of Ethiopian coffee while ensuring fair incomes for the small producers with whom he works closely.
Perched at an altitude of over 2,400 meters, the Alo farm benefits from fertile volcanic soil and an optimal climate. These natural assets, combined with Tamiru’s sustainable farming practices, allow for the production of coffees of exceptional quality. However, Tamiru’s vision goes beyond simple production: he aspires to promote Ethiopian coffee on an international scale, while celebrating the ancestral traditions that surround its culture. On the farm, washed and natural processing methods are employed, revealing floral aromas, citrus notes and fruity flavours typical of high-altitude Ethiopian coffees.
Following his Cup of Excellence win, Tamiru expanded his project by collaborating with local farmers to preserve and exploit heirloom coffee varieties. These plants, prized for their delicate aromas, elegant acidity and complex flavours, produce traceable batches that are highly sought after by roasters around the world for their unique and exotic character.
