Known as the “Land of 1,000 Hills”, Rwanda offers some of the most ideal conditions on earth for growing coffee: high altitude, volcanic soil, and consistent rainfall. This washed Red Bourbon lot from the Huye Mountain region is the second release from The Barn’s close partnership with David Rubanzangabo, and it’s a beautifully balanced espresso with classic Rwandan character.

David is a pioneer in Rwanda’s specialty coffee movement. After taking Huye Mountain into private ownership, he segmented the region into seven distinct growing zones, each expressing a unique flavour profile. His commitment to quality and his philanthropic leadership have earned him multiple Cup of Excellence awards and the admiration of farmers and buyers alike.

This particular lot delivers everything expected from a top-tier Rwandan coffee—smooth milk chocolate, a gentle citrus lift, and an overall clean, balanced cup. David continues to uplift the community around him by offering social premiums and quality incentives to encourage farmers to grow exceptional coffee.

The Barn is proud to support David’s vision, and this year’s harvest from Huye Mountain is one of the best yet.
